What we measured, what we fixed, and what still needs a hand

This wall is built to WCAG 2.2 AA and checked by instrument on every template before it ships: contrast on every element, keyboard reach to every control, a visible focus ring, landmarks a screen reader can walk, real alt text on every painting, and no meaning carried by colour alone. The numbers come from the check, not from looking.

What holds

  • Every door, chip, slider and plate is reachable and operable from the keyboard, in reading order, with a visible focus ring.
  • Every painting of ours carries the line it was painted from and the hand, as its alternative text; every museum scan carries its title, painter and museum.
  • Motion respects your setting: with reduced motion on, the rails, the shuffle, the typewriter and the dissolve stand still and show their final state.
  • Touch targets are at least 44 pixels; the wall reads at 375 pixels wide with nothing cut off, and text scales with your browser.
  • Nothing here needs JavaScript to be read. The composer needs it to paint.

What needs a hand

  • The Sketch door is drawn with a pointer or a finger. If drawing is not possible for you, the Imagine door takes the same idea as a typed line and the Upload door takes a photograph of a drawing on paper.
  • The exposure slider is a native range control: the arrow keys move it a tenth of a stop at a time.
  • The wait while three painters work is announced as a live region once per change of state, not every second.
